The Union Square Park Memorials
| For a few days Union Square Park was the closest park to the disaster site, as its southern border is on 14th Street. This was the site of the busiest memorials of all. Musicians, New-Agers, peaceniks, and war-mongers, all descended on the park and many brought tents and spent the night. A media circus ensued, with television trucks all around the perimeter. A real New York happening! |
